Default Anybody tried this iPhone BMWhat app?

I need to read out the fault codes from a used car I am interested to buy - of course not carrying around a PC:D

I just found a BMW diagnosis app for iPhone which claims to read out all the BMW fault codes. Anybody tried this so far?

It would just be ideal if one could just use the iPhone ;)

just looked at it. It looks great. I downloaded the free one to test with my KIWI Wifi connector from PLX. The menu does not list the 128i, but does have a 125i which might be similar. Will check it out in a day or so.

I have had a few good conversations with the app developer.
It will read the cars listed and generate both OBD2 and some BMW specific codes. There is an issue with some models being simply not readable and with some codes not being easily read through the OBD2 port.

However, he is continuing to develop it and he knows he will have a winner on his hands when its done.

Send him a note and get on his mailing list. I think it will be worth it if he solves the access issues that still exist for some newer models.

I just downloaded the lite version to try out on my E82 128i.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but how does it connect to the car? Do I need a special cable to connect to the OBD port? Does it connect through Bluetooth? Or, will it communicate through the iPhone USB port that I normally use for playing music?

Edit: never mind, I found the answer on the website above

Hi,

I thought I just give some feedback now that I got the App myself - finally:D

I checked the complete car and the App found many fault codes, esp. regarding firing of cylinders. When it's cold they seem to have problems.

So I cleared all of the fault codes - and now I will wait if they come back...

Also the app is extremely detailed when telling me all the faults - I am really amazed how much information is available.
