Default Bench Coding Rig

I'm trying to connect to an E38/39/53 High cluster out of the car for repairs, testing and coding.

I've got it powered up correctly and can access the test functions.

I'm now trying to connect the OBD2 socket so that I can connect to the cluster with INPA or PA Soft.

I have pin 8 on the OBD socket connected to pin 7 on the white cluster plug.
I have 4 and 5 on the OBD socket connected to earth and 1 and 16 connected to 12v.

I think I'm close. BMW scanner and INPA cables power up, INPA won't load the .ipo and BMW Scanner gets to the identifcation and comes up with "IKE connection error" or similar.

My wee Creator c310+ connects to the cluster and can read codes.

I'd be very grateful for any assistance.
