Default BMW E60 530d CAS/Key Issue

Hi all

First post, so please be gentle with me

I have purchased an E60 530d direct from an insurance company, which was stolen & then later recovered. I purchased the car with no keys. The car is unlocked, but showing nothing on the dash. Only power to the car is the ability to turn the radio on.

I went to my local BMW dealer, handed V5 and identification over, and got a replacement key for the car at 150, hoping that it would fire straight up, but all I get is a symbol in yellow, showing a key with a line through it.

I took it to a BMW specialist, to see if the CAS needed coding back up to the DDE, however it was coded together fine. The only thing it did say (He uses autologic), was that the key was invalid.

I think the car has been laid up for a few months, with a flat battery. The specialist said that sometimes if the battery has been dead for a while, the CAS can lose its last code that it got from the last key, and he thinks that this maybe the problem. He is suggesting that I buy a new CAS kit (including full key set & barrells) from BMW.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do or try, before my last resort of spending nearly 500 on a CAS kit with keys?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Craig

never buy a BMW without key!

Unfortunately, you'll probably get the 500 seem to need to shell out

Get a locksmith to program a new cas key to car .there shouldnt be any problem with your cas you either have wrong key for cas or the key you ordered is one theat has been allready used. When I order keys from bmw I askthem for key 5. Which number did you ask for. Also check with diagnostics chassis number inside cas this may of been changed.
Regards.
You could send me over cas and I could program a transponder for that will get you up and running.

I bought a 118d 2008 from auction without keys, looked like car was lying for few months and battery was flat, got replacement from BMW dealers , when i put the key in, it shows key sign and cross on it, towed to local auto electrician, when u put his autologic diagnostic it shows invalid key in ignition, I am advised to get a new key set & cas unit cost 400, but they still not sure if this will resolve the issue or not
BMW doesn't have an idea what it could be ,
Some one advised that you always need to change cas unit if you don't have a working key in order to code in a new replacement key ?
Plz advise what I should I do
Many thanks
