Default Can a steering angle sensor be reprogrammed?

My dummy lights for traction control and brakes come on intermittently. I had a local shop read the codes with a pretty high end reader, and it was a steering angle sensor. My research confirms this problem. The below thread is a DIY on changing the sensor, but it says you need high end software or a dealer to reprogram the new sensor.

What setup should I buy to do this myself? Obviously, the normal OBDII readers do not work. Does anyone know what DIY setup can take care of this task. I would very much appreciate a point in the right direction.

THANKS!

Did you tryed to calibrate it with INPA v3.01 ?

There is an option under the "special Tests" button.

That sounds like good news. Is this something I was hoping software could do. I only have a peak reset tool. No cable or other higher end software yet. I wanted to know if it could be done, and it looks like it can. What should I buy or get to do this re-calibrate?

Thanks so much for posting!

You need a cable like [Only for registered users... ]

The software you need is called INPA, it's in the "BMW Standard Tools" package. Search and you will find.
