Default Cas, key problem

Hey Guys, I bought an e90 a few weeks ago. it came only with the wallet key so I went to purcahse a fob from the dealer. The fob does not seem to work. On inserting the fob into the car all I get is a key symbol with a dash through it. The dealer put the car through diagnositics and stated 'suspect cas fitted from another car- remedy: new cas and lock set', needless to say at 800 id rather not go down this route. I took it to a car locksmith to try and get this new fob working but I was told that the car would not take a remote or tansponder via the OBD but that the cas was for my car. The locksmit has mentioned that he may be able to dump the keys physically onto the cas by taking the cas out and working with it on the bench. Is this possible? Any help would be apprecaited. Thanks

The car starts and locks fine with the wallet key, its just that the alarm goes off each time I open it with the wallet key.

You should be able to find the CAS assembly number in INPA and then flash it using WinKFP with your VIN number. Once complete, you should be able to assign the key to EWS using INPA.
