Post Coding fuel consumption display to OIL Temperature(combination instrument)

Hi to all Members of this Forum,

At First, this is the first time iam posting here so i hope i'll do everything right (Germans are not that good in doing things right ).
Back to topic... i know that it is possible to display oil temperature instead of the fuel consoption for quite all of the E60 Models ...(because the 6series (e63) were produced with it. And the ECU/Kombi is the same as used for the e60)

Additionally i know, that i need to code it with tool32 and not with ncsexpert.
The .grp File you need is KBM/KMB (.grp).
I was searching in tool32 and in this File for an hour and found nothing ...
So my Question is, does anyone of you know what i need to change/code/do to get oiltemperature into my KMB (combination instrument)?

Thanks in Advance
(if i described something in bad way, just ask...I dont know all the vocabulary for these things. (And normaly all BMW Tools were written in German so ....))

You need NCS Expert or WinKFP. Its in the file KMBI_E60.C0x (x being whatever your ECU coding index is). Mneumonic name is CBS_STAT_01H. Set to display should put it there for you. If you are familiar with iso 14230 (Keyword2000 protocol), basically its a service 0x22 with an identifier 0x3800. Byte zero with a mask of 0x30 sets the bits for it. Set them to 00 and that puts it to display. Hopefully this helps.

This helped a lot so far Thank you
I think, as you said i'll code this with ncsexpert,
and as far as i know this is the way the Mneumonic name is coded in generel:

"CBS_STAT_01H
anzeige"

i think i'll have to change this into "wert_1" or "wert_2". (Reason: there are 2 Ranges for displaying the Oiltemperature(50-170C and 0-150C, or something like this).

And i think i need to deactivate fuel consumption display too, that it can work.
So ... one Question:
Do you know the Mneumonic name for this, too?

thank you in advance :)

A few Days ago i tried to write CBS_stat_01h with wert_01 or wert_02 to my Kombi Module. didnt Work ...
I get an Error in Ncsexpert (bin Folder - error File) like:
Wert_01 / wert_02 are wrong parameters for functioncall "CBS_stat_01h".
But as i read in an other discription of the Kombi Module, wert_01 and wert_02 should be possible to be written into the Module ...

any ideas?
regards Tokor

Did you find a solution?

Is it possible that
MOTORSPORT wert_01 and wert _02 get this working?

You can't set CBS_STAT_01H to wert_01 or wert_02

The only thing you can do is set CBS_STAT_01H to
anzeige (display)
sperre (hide)
erprobung (test)

CBS_STAT_01H allready had the value "anzeige" coded.
So it wouldnt Help to change it to "erprobung" or "sperre" ... maybe CBS_STAT_01H is the wrong Function/command to get this Working

I still try to find a solution.
Here in Germany is a guy who sells this coding
he can also code the gauge to 300 kmh etc.

I think tha he flashes the firmware from an m5 odo but im not sure

Yeah i know that guy and allready talked to him ... he said it is possible to code by tool32 (that includes ncsexpert coding and the other stuff.)
If you drive an e60, there is a simple way to code the gauge up to 300 kmh ... you just need to add a new FA to your Car (take a look into the e60AT.000 File (its one of the First "Sondercodierungen")).
And i dont think that he flashes the Software of a M5 into your DME, because this wouldnt work and kill your DME :/ and as i allready said, he said, that it is possible to code with the standard Tools ... Question: Does this guy you mentioned come from munich? I have got to know him(the guy from munich i was talking about) during using the e60-forum.
