Default which ecu part numbers can i use???

hi all,

i have a 2005 e91 330d with a water damaged ecu the part number is
13 61 7 799 856, it is superceeded to 13 61 7808222. i am trying to find a replacement but i am struggling with the part numbers, they don't make sense.

when i check the superceeded number (7 808 222) it say that it has superceeded 15 previous numbers:-
7 808 222
7 799 856 (my part number)
7 803 369
7 805 350
7 801 217
7 801 712
7 798 182
7 798 506
7 799 208
7 797 247
7 797 499

but when i check my original part number (7 799 856) it only list these as superceed numbers:-
7 808 222
7 803 369
7 801 712
7 801 217
7 799 856 (my part number)
7 799 208
7 798 182

what i don't understand is how when i check 7 808 222 it gives me a big list of parts it replaces, but when i check 7 799 856 (my number) it only give me a small sellection of numbers it replaces.

so can i use any of the part numbers that 7 808 222 superceeds (first list), or can i only use the part numbers that are in the second list .

some of the above part numbers will work on 3, 5, 7, and x3, yet other will only work on 3, or only 5 etc. how can this be if they are all superceeding to the same part number.

my last 7 is fj53035.

can anyone help me clear this up, its messing my head up.

thanks in advance guys
