Default INPA version conflict; ECU Comm issue; Error 2F44

Apologies in advance if I have posted in the wrong location. I have a 2-1/2 ton brick in my drive. 2005 E66 745Li with N62 engine. I don't know if it's something I did, as research I have done so far suggests the loss of ECU 'alignment' has happened to some just from registering a battery. But there are quirks and I need some help as I'm a green noob playing where I shouldn't.

To start with, I got INPA 5.02 going, albeit not correct 100%. I registered the new battery I put in 3 weeks ago. Then some rooting around in most areas to learn about what was there. Then a bit more, printing out existing errors module by module. Then a bit of clearing errors to see what returned.

I'm not sure what I did last, I know I was in the N62 Engine section. One thing I noticed was that the ECU appears to have been replaced with a 2009 ECU. The car turns over and doesn't start. Everything points to alignment, so I followed instructions I found here to try to reset the alignment. It will not take.

In a nutshell, I think I need to do the alignment and clear the 2F44 error so the ECU knows the key is proper. I've got some screenshots of what is coming up when I have tried to do it.

1. When INPA opens and I got to any section, the first screenshot appears.
2. When I try to open any of the N62 sub-menu's, the 2nd screenshot appears.
3. The 3rd is the error code I'm getting pointing to the need to do 'alignment'

I'd appreciate any help, at this point I'm trying to get easy-dis up & running according to several sites(including here) it might be easier to do the alignment with it.

I'm going to go hook it up again to get screenshots of the car info and the ecu info, will post them as well.
