Smile M Performance Power Kit

Ive got the M Performance Power kit for the F30, the engine controller module (is that what its called) has already been coded for the same model F30 that I have, 320d 2012 model 184bhp.

Can I simply plug in the controller or does it have to be recoded for my car specifically? Is it coded for the specific VIN number?

And can the controller simply be recoded for other VINs and/or vehicles?

If anyone has any experiences with engine controller units would be great to hear from you
