Default NCS and 540i E39

Trying to recode a remanufactured (BBA) ABS module in order to get DSC functioning again.
(module NOT original from my car but same part number)

Bought cable/software and a s/h laptop.

Plugged into car and the first thing we notice on screen is that NCS has 'added' an extra digit to the end of the correct VIN code ???

Stopped there.

Signed onto this forum because I'm absolutely sure I will need your valued help !

Why would NCS do this?

Default

Hours later and after more searching I think I've found the answer on a Russian website.

It says NCS 'adds a check digit to the VIN'

So - nothing to stop me having another attempt.
