Default Newb questions.

Hey there I am new to BMW's and loving our 2011 328i so far, however I am learning that while the car is satellite radio 'ready'. We would need to pay the dealer like $300-500 if we want to activate it. Now I have been reading that to code this function is doable using the correct software and cable etc. The big issue is obtaining the FSC specific code for my car. Does this sound about right and has anyone had success doing such a 'upgrade' to their car?

The new year is more there than a coding option. You will need to purchase a satellite module as a minimum.

There is more than just a coating option to complete. Will also need to purchase and XM Satellite module as a minimum. Why not call a BMW parts and ask what the kit includes. I used a XM Universal module with a universal antenna that cost just under $100.

My Understanding was that my car and others didn't need the Module as the Radio unit had it integrated.
