Default Reading Codes and car went haywire... help!!

So, I had a cable hooked up and was running Inpa and DIS to read error codes when I suddenly saw my dash lights begin flashing on and off. I then heard different motors/devices turning on and off behind the dash etc... The lights on the dash started to roll through a display of several of the error symbols. I was just about to disconnect after reading the codes when the dash started going nuts (including vertical lines through the display)!!! I closed the programs out properly and disconnected my cable. After doing so, when I would put the key in and hit the start button, it did nothing. No crank, no nothing... My original problem was a long crank issue and failure to start (codes I found related to the valvetronic eccentric shaft sensor), but it was at least cranking over. Any chance it would have been caused by the battery draining down, or do you think something more serious happened?? I wasn't doing any programming or diving in to any deep menus, just working to get DIS connected and looking at the basic info in Inpa. I read somewhere that I should keep a battery charger on the car while Im reading codes, but that seemed like it might cause more power issues than anything else and I didnt do it... Ideas?? I'm stressing out at this point!!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!! Thanks!!:(

Default

Looks like the battery went dead while reading the codes... not a good thing... but all appears well for now.
