Default Trying to pull my 1B file

Iíve got a MINI R56 and Iím having a hell of a time getting an Ethernet connection to pull the 1B file to generate my own FSC for navigation maps. From what Iíve been reading, the electronics of my MINI are nearly identical to an E90.

Iíve given up trying to pull the 1B file using a K+D-CAN cable (this one ([Only for registered users... ], supposedly D-CAN cables aren't compatible with SWID Reader) and I donít know anyone with an ICOM cable. So the next best thing is to pull it from an FTP session, right? But I canít for the life of me get any connection through the USB port in the glovebox using an USB-Ethernet adapter. No lights, nothing.
Iím using this adapter: [Only for registered users... ]. Itís not the D-Link, but looking at the adaptersí properties under Windows it shows that it uses the AX88772 chipset and it seems to match the vendor/device IDís that the car is looking for (vendor=0x0b95,device=0x7720), so I donít think thatís the issue.

Iíve tried changing the connection state using both champ2r.prg & cicr.prg in Tool32 (same results with both):
apiJob("CHAMP2R","steuern_ethernet_connection_stat e","0x00;0x01","")

Satz : 0
OBJECT = champ2r
SAETZE = 1
JOBNAME = steuern_ethernet_connection_state
VARIANTE = CHAMP2R
JOBSTATUS =
UBATTCURRENT = 1
UBATTHISTORY = 1
IGNITIONCURRENT = 0
IGNITIONHISTORY = 1
Satz : 1
JOB_STATUS = OKAY
_REQUEST = 7 Bytes
0000 : 84 63 F1 31 51 00 01 ĄcŮ1Q..
_TEL_ANTWORT = 6 Bytes
0000 : 82 F1 63 71 51 98 āŮcqQė

That looks good, but then:
apiJob("CHAMP2R","status_get_ipconfig","","")

Satz : 0
OBJECT = champ2r
SAETZE = 1
JOBNAME = status_get_ipconfig
VARIANTE = CHAMP2R
JOBSTATUS =
UBATTCURRENT = 1
UBATTHISTORY = 1
IGNITIONCURRENT = 0
IGNITIONHISTORY = 1
Satz : 1
STAT_FORMAT = 0 00 .
STAT_IPADDRESS = 0.0.0.0
STAT_NETMASK = 255.255.255.255
STAT_GATEWAY = 0.0.0.0
JOB_STATUS = OKAY
_REQUEST = 5 Bytes
0000 : 82 63 F1 21 65 ācŮ!e
_TEL_ANTWORT = 19 Bytes
0000 : 8F F1 63 61 65 00 00 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF 00 00 ŹŮcae... ..ˇˇˇˇ..
0010 : 00 00 A5 ..•

WTF?? No lights at all on the USB-Ethernet adapter at any time through this. Back using Tool32 looking into the 00SWTKWP.prg, I ran a Ďstatus_lesení, and it does come up with (among other things):
Satz : 8
STAT_SW_ID = 001B0001
STAT_FSCS_CERT_STATUS = AKZEPTIERT
STAT_FSCS_CERT_STATUS_CODE = 02
STAT_FSC_STATUS = AKZEPTIERT
STAT_FSC_STATUS_CODE = 02

So it seems the 1B is in there somewhere, I just canít for the life of me figure out how to grab it! I have on order the items to make an OBD2 to Ethernet cable, but does anyone have any ideas in the meantime?

(One other thing to note is that I can get a live link by connecting into the center console USB port (the one used for MINI Connected/BMW ConnectedDrive). I tried setting up a DHCP server but that didnít work. If I set the Ethernet connection to DHCP Iím assigned an IP address, but doing a port scan I still canít find anything that responds.)

Anyone have any ideas?

Remove the DHCP server, let your system get a 169.X.X.X address and then make a portscan again at 169.*.*.*
Also you could try an ARP scanner tool (does scan for the MAC address, not the IP)

That would by my idea as an IT technican
