Default DIS v57 with E38

I'm familiar with basic functions of DIS v57 for checking module errors and component activation. I recently picked up a 2001 E38 740i. After Quick Test I go to control unit functions.and when I try to activate any of the components such as the aux fan it displays this message:
Note on Selected control unit, Further information on this control unit can be read out in the corresponding diagnosis program.

Why is this different than my E53 or E38 and where in DIS do I go to be able to activate these? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, you can use service functions and then choose some module and then click on test module i think. Or go back from control functions and then forward and then choose error and click on test. On older bmw's you must go in each module to see live data and component activating.
