Default EPS Issues

Yesterday the active steering warning light came on and I lost power to the steering. Restarting the car showed no warning lights but still no PAS. ISTA+ reported no fault codes but the EPS control unit was non-responsive.

This morning, everything was initially back to normal (no codes and ISTA could see the EPS control unit (showing as green)). Ten minutes later it was back in the failed state as yesterday.

Wondering if anyone had experienced the same, and what the outcome was? I'm assuming it's the ECU in the steering rack and is likely to require a whole unit? Are there any earth points I can check as it seems intermittent?
