Default Trouble resetting valvetronic control motor

Trying to diagnose my F25 X3 (2011) which goes into limp mode 'drive moderately' warning. The warning is just when the car is first warming up and goes away after 3-5 minutes. I am pretty sure that the car does not actually reduce power in the drivetrain though.

My buddy is a mechanic and is taking a look at it for me. EDIT: I attached an image with the engine code read-out.

One of the codes was for a misfire, and he swapped the coil on the offending cylinder to see if it is that is the issue there. He's not at BWM, but his diagnostics database number one suggestion for the codes is to try resetting the valvetronic control motor. When he does this it says "conditions not met".. has anyone on here ran into this issue? I've searched a couple hours and come up short.
