Default Newbie to OBD diagnosing

Hi everyone,

I just bought a bluetooth OBD 2 1.5 module for my E91.
Just looking around to find a good PC software (compatible with the module) to make diagnosis and coding.

Can you please point me to the right software and maybe also download links?

Thanks in advance

Default TouchScan or Torque

Hello,

I have been using TouchScan on a laptop for several years with an ELM327 chinese knockoff. You can only receive the generic OBD codes and not BMW specific codes. Still, I would never diagnose any car without OBD. I did not purchase the Professional Add-on, because I am moving on to an a INPA compliant K-CAN OBD for my 2002 BMW.

If you are knew to OBD diagnosing, it is a very good value for the $. Infinitely customizable gauges. I highly recommend it!

Also, since you have a Bluetooth, you can use any number of Android (not iPhone) apps. I considered Torque Pro, but given the limitations above, I chose to get into INPA K+CAN instead. You can find it on Google Play Store and plenty of YouTubes.

Have fun!
Karl

Chinese clone ELM327 scanner or iobd2 scanner will do. They cost less than $25 even if sometimes you have to try several times.

Edit:

dude, if u want to buy the tool, don't buy it now. My friend told me that the shop is going to offer 7% off all orders during Sep 5-15. If it is not urgent, buy it at a even lower price :)
