Default Programming / Recoding NEW Custer

Hello, I am so glade i found this site! this will be my 2nd post and i hope it will be as successful as the first. I came across a new instrument cluster for 100 bucks. guys cars died after putting 15k into it and when the timing chain broke, he just walked away. He paid 1200 for the cluster. It has only been in the car for a few months. Does any body have info on how to reprogram an new instrument cluster? I have a 2000 E38.

Thank all
