As i know you'll need EPROM programmer it's not possible to do it with winkfp or other software.

I updated a used cluster using eeprom programmer and writting to the M35080 chip. I do not think you can do it with winkfp or ncsexpert. I bought a cheap clone programmer so it didn't cost too much. From what I know if you wipe out the VIN in the eeprom you can then update with winfp/ncsexpert because it is "uncoded".

What clone did you buy? Did you actually change VIN using this clone?

You have to buy any tool able to read and write the eeprom 35080 (search for the r260), when you have read the eeprom you can change the miliage and vin.

Does this apply to the E39/E38 clusters too? I was thinking along the lines of wiping the eprom, but didn't know which one, and more importantly, what exactly to wipe, and what must be kept on there, or can it be straight blank? In the e39 does it need to be coded with a program once it's blank and installed into the new car? Or can the new car update it with its existing information?
This would be HUGE help if anyone can help me on this one!
Thanks in advance!
