530d e60 ecu update

Hi All,

I have got myself familiar with some of the software such as winkfp and ncsexpert and want to update my M-ask unit.

I have managed to get hold of the daten files so here are my questions:

I found my assembly number which is reffered to in INPA as part number which is a 7 digit code no letters. However when I used it in Winkfp, it says assmebly number not recognised ( I am using the tab called ZUSB ).

Can anyone guide me in the right way please.

the reason for my upgrade is so I can get my 2004 car to read 2013 maps . 2013 maps are written on dual layer dvd and have read on the internet that I need to update the firmware in order to be able to use that dvd which I already have.

mine has not has any updates from 2004 according to INPA( software manufacture date)

In addition I have seen people saying to hook up the car to a battery charger, unfortunately I can not find any power plugs or sockets so my only options are either switch the car on or use an external charger. if so what type of external chargers should I get and how much should I expect to pay

many thanks

im pretty sure you need a tool capable of programming through Fiber optics for a m-ask unit. You should have an external constant power supply of 14.4v for programming. look for a charger with a Flash Programming option.
