Default BMW E39 Mileage Correction

I am quite new to the forum, and I know allot of people have asked this question but I don’t think there has been a clear definitive answer and guide
out there.

Here is the issue I have a e39 which I purchased used, the previous owner switched out the odometer because he has the pixel problem.

The mileage was higher on the used cluster but I purchased the car because everything seemed to check out on the CarFax report.

I have gotten rid of the tamper dot using my PA Soft (BMW Scanner 1.4) software.

However I would like to correct the mileage before I get it smoged & transferred in my name.

Before u ask he does not have the old cluster & I have not only searched this forum but others without luck.

There are pieces of information scattered about but not a clear guide.

From my understanding we have to program the m35080 chip but I would like to do this without desoldiering the chip.

I know there is the m35080 programmer on eBay…can anybody give a clear guide how to use it hopefully there is a clip that can connect to the chip without soldiering it.

Anybody with any information please share…maybe if there is other hardware/software out there.

Thanks in advance & hopefully we can once and for all get a clear guide on this sought after subject.

Have you ever used this product?

If so could you provide a walkthrough...

Thanks!

if car MY is past 99 you need like xprog ,clone units are not so expencive and then you dont need to take needles out from this dash which is pain , inside xprog unit software there is good pictures where you need to solder some wires and software to change miles as well
