Cable

10pin --> obd2
1 --> 7
4 --> 4 and 5
6 --> 16
10 --> 1

Missing is
7 --> 6 - for CAN Lo
9 --> 14 - for CAN Hi

For the k21 R NINE T '15 though you only need OBDII pins 1, 4&5, 7, 16 not CAN and voltage must be above 14v for programming

Hello Wayne,

thanks for your response. As i wrote my Cable has all the needed Pins 1,4+5,7,16 on OBD2 Side with the correct placement on the 10 PIN Side, thats not my problem.

As you stated correctly, the K21 does not need Can but Only K-Line Pin 1-7.

So my problem must be in the Configuration of Ediabas, my FTDI Cable or something in between.

Do you have any ideas what i could be missing ?

EDIT:

I thougt about my Setup: is it possible that my Rheingold Software does not have the necessary Files for Motorcycle Operation ?
What is the Chassis that i should choose in NCS ?

I almost forgot this topic but as a status (and perhaps to help somebody else) I solved my problem, at least partly.

I can now connect to all of my bike’s ecus and read live data, reset service indicator after service etc. Although I cannot make for example ABS unit’s bleeding (in case of I would like to change all break lines and some other this kind of jobs).

I removed all old stuff and re-installed software. I also downgraded USB serial driver version. I found via google that there might be problem with Chinese cables which not necessarily have genuine FTDI chip. The newest driver versions won’t necessarily work with fake FTDI chips. And I don’t know whether my k+dcan cable has genuine chip or not.

I cleaned com ports via Windows regedit and configured there serial port RxFIFO and TxFIFO values and put force_fifo_enable on. If I remember it correctly it was off at some point in my trials.

I also made own cable between bike’s 10-round pin adapter and k+dcan cable. Or actually it’s not real cable, just set of separate wires which I connect from motorcycle’s round adapter pins straight to K+DCAN cable’s pins. I haven’t tried to connect to motorcycle with icom-d cable since then so I don’t know whether it would work nowadays after other changes I made.

I was lazy and made many changes at the same time so root cause for my earlier problems is not totally clear.

I am not sure whether I should have ICOM-A entity in order to get rest of Rheingold functionalities to work. But at the moment I am happy with those functionalities I have now available.

Default MANUAL: K+DCAN Cable + ICOM D for BMW Motorcycle diagnosis

Device for use:
[Only for registered users... ]
[Only for registered users... ]

Here are the steps (copied)
1. I cut all the big wire
pic 1

2. I used a multimeter in order to get the relationship between the pins and wires. I used continuity function.

3. I ordered a female OBD2 (k+dcan cable and Vagcom cable both ok) because I broke mine trying to eliminate the plastic housing

4. Then i used this configuration below:

Universal K-Line & CAN BUS Adaptor (K1600)
Signal OBDII Socket BMW 10 pin Plug
K1 15 (Ignition On) 1--------------------------------------------------10
Ground 4&5-------------------------------------------------4
CAN Hi 6-----------------------------------------------------7
K-Line 1 (BMS) 7-----------------------------------------1
K-Line 2 (ABS) 8------------------------------------------2
CAN Lo 14-----------------------------------------------------9
KL 30 (Bat+) 16-----------------------------------------------------6

How to setup K+Dcan inpa cable
Notes
1/ Dependant on the software, model & adaptor cable used it may be necessary to invert RI #
and DSR signals to for detection of battery and ignition as per the VAG KKL cable.
2/ This cable & access through the diagnostics port is yet to be tested

INPA software Installation
1/ If the cable is supplied without drivers & utilities download them from FTDI
2/ Install driver
Plug in cable, WinXP will find cable,
point to directory with drivers, windows installs.
3/ Set the USB Serial port parameters
/MyComputer/Properties/DeviceManager/Ports(Com&LPT/SerialUSB/Advanced
Set the Latency timer from default 16 msec. to 1 msec
Check USB Port No matches Port No set in INPA/EDIABAS (OBD2.ini)
4/ Install Mprog & modify the programming of the eeprom FT232RL
We need to invert RI # and DSR # signals to fool the detection of battery and ignition.
After programming check your I/O Control settings, they must be :
#C0 = RXLED #C1 = TXLED #C2 = POWERON #C3 = PWRON
#C4 = SLEEP Invert RI ticked Invert DSR ticked
Save settings

How to setup ICOM D adapter
8 pins fitted but in wrong pin No's
Pin 01 – Vi/Sw
Pin 02 – Sw/Rt
Pin 04 – Ws/Ge
Pin 05 – Ws/Bl
Pin 07 – Ws

I did a few changes on my Z4, M3 and X3 through ICOM A2 running [Only for registered users... ].

Worked great!

I did on the Z4:
- open/closing Top with key
- Open/closing top doesn't stop when start driving
- disabled belt beep.
- blinking lock/ unlock car
- LED in mirror
- disable Miami setting (locks close when faster than 15 km/h)
- full moon brake light when hard braking
- Brake-Force-Light. third brake light flashes when ABS kicks in.

As I remember there was a setting for miles and km/h. I need to check the SW_PSW.trc file.. I might have it

Does anyone know what this EWS module is called and can it be programmed? I have a broke key. It broke in the crash. It was the only key I got with the S1000RR.

I have already tried to marry a new switch and key to the EWS Module that matches the ECU, but I get errors from ISTA/P that the key is invalid. it see the EWS module fine and it is valid, but the key is not.

I need to program the EWS and the Key to the ECU, but it seems that ISTA/P is not capable of that.

I see others have used WinKFP somehow, but I can not find the ECU module that works with that. I have seen some say the K24 is the motorcycle files?
