Default E39 DDE VIN Change

Hello

I tried to search the answer for this but could not find any.

As the title says. I just need to confirm can this be done safely. Previous owner of the car has changed the DDE of my car but I dont have any idea how it can work with different VIN number.

So can I change the VIN in my cars DDE without bigger problems?

Thanks.
