Default PA 2.01 vs 2.20 K+DCAN

Hi guys,

I couldn't get the 2.01 version to talk to certain modules on post '07 Canbus BMWs. I have seen the orange interface called 2.20 D-can which looks like it would be the right upgrade.

Is it normal for 2.01 to fail on CANbus only cars?
Would 2.20 get all of that working, or is it one of those "pretend" upgrades where a version number is just added, and it's the same thing with a different sticker?

Thanks all.

I have the orange interface but only had the chance to try it on a few 2004-2005 e60. Works ok.
2.2 is the last version from July 2012 if I am not mistaken.
The other one called BMW Dash has a similar GUI when you first look at it, but seems to be a different program all together.
I am doing lots of cars, I will report back once I come across a DCAN one post 03/2007.

Yes,They are different,Since 2006/03,BMW use"Dcan" ,means that diagnosis use no KL15,So as GT1,need to change the OBDII cable,The old OBDII cable can not use on cars which was assembled after 2006/03.

And Since SOP 2008/09 ,You must remove pin 8 then you can do everything.

I might have tried 2.1 too, I have 2.01 and 2.10

2.10 contains more of the fault descriptions, and I would try with the 2.20 s/w but I'd want to avoid any bricking.

I have a feeling 2.10(aka BMWDASH) and 2.20 are modded versions of the original E6X PA Soft which appears to be abandoned at 2.0.1

They are cloned versions of pa soft. But still very powerful tools. I use these every now and again, but if you want them for cad EEPROM back up forget it for newer models.

I am using Scanner 2.2 and I connected successfully to a 2009 320i. It works fine on pre 03/2007 e60 too.

I spoke to Alex by the way from PA Soft, he is not making any new version for the F series, which is a shame, it is a nice product, not perfect, but I do save lots of time with this for simple programing tasks.

It is not supposed to work without the PA Soft interface.
Installation file is very small, few megs.
