Read and write any epprom data from car to another wich i found it very usfull. You can make the tv Work whail driving and alot of thing..

Hello Maxspeed.
it's nice you think BMW scanner is a good tool, because I baught the 1.4 version, and I meet some trouble when using.
Here is my problem:
my car is e39 540i, jully 1999.
my original cluster is out of order ( after chinese carsoft 6.5 use ) Do I try to replace it whith an already used one. Coming from a 740 v8.
Everything seem OK but the milleage and the VIN. It's well hnown that a mismatch of VIN betweem IKE and LCM give a DSC malfunction.
But I can't write VIN in my cluster. Can you Help?
Thanks by advance, Alasterix

DSC malfunction has nothing to do with VIN difference between the IKE and LCM.
The temper dot woud be on if a different VIN is used between the 2 units.
Now when you retrofit a used cluster, you need to do 2 things at least.

1. Write the car VIN in the cluster (Last 7 digits only).

2. Sync the cluster vehicle data to your own car, then the DSC light would go away. But it is not always working perfectly in BMW Scanner.
It is best to use BMW tools for that.

It is a handy tool alright that allows you to do quick turnover, but all the coding and programing factory options from the car are not available.

I use it often, but the tool is not perfect. But it is good tool to start with when you dont know anything about coding/programing, it gives you an idea of the modules, options etc.

You still need NCS/INPA/KPF...
