Default noob

Hi All, I'm looking to dig into coding and the communications between modules. I'd like to develop my own interfaces, devices and test systems wrt inter-module communications.

My cars:

1995 325i, with lot of suspension mods, LWFW, M3 trans, LSD and 280k+ miles (450600+km) and will be handing this down to my son next year.

2007 Z4 3.0Si Coupe, No mods installed (yet) but a massive pile of parts accumulating to go in this winter. CAtuned Coilovers, Condor polyethylene mounts, TMS monoball bushings all around, clutch, LWFW, UUC Evo3+DSSR, H&R sway bars, new wheel bearings and a tune-up.

2014 535d, has the harman kardon 600W L7 system. Everything is stock.

I'd like to integrate into the audio system in the 535. I want to turn on and off certain features, etc. I want to program the DME in the Z4 also integrate a Z4M gauge cluster. the 325 is ODBI, and I want to do more home-brew diagnostics and such. I might get a megasquirt or something for it for autocross.

By the way, I'm an EE (Electrical Engineer) with experience in industrial and consumer electronics design, embedded systems, FPGA, and a lot of PCB design. I'm always willing to answer electrical questions or give my opinions regarding troubleshooting etc.

My son is nearly 15 and is getting excited to get his learners permit to drive next year. I'm getting excited too, tbh. We are also going to join autocross here in San Diego next season (sdrscca).
