Default BMW Scanner Tool cable

Hey all, this is my first post, and not sure where this should lie, so I chose this forum. I had recently acquired the BMW Scanner tool, I was wondering if the supplied OBD cable adapter would work with other BMW software like NCS Expert. I just want to make sure I do not need another to purchase another cable. Thanks in advance.
